Documentary storytelling preserves history as it is lived

At Backstory Media, our documentary work is rooted in careful listening, deep interviews, and respect for lived experience. We create films that document personal and community histories—ensuring that important voices are not lost to time.

FEATURED PROJECT

Voices of Resilience

Voices of Resilience is a feature documentary that captures how Washington, DC, neighborhoods experienced and endured the events of 2020 — through firsthand accounts, reflections, and memories.

Rather than a single narrative, the film brings together individual voices from multiple communities, creating a collective record of a pivotal moment in local history.

This project is funded in part by grants from the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, Humanities DC, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts
